Is pilling normal?

Pilling is completely normal for wool and cotton products. Pilling usually shows around the first wash and is caused by friction rubbing against the fabric.  This loosens shorter, super-fine merino fibers working their way to the surface. It does not affect the functionality of the fabric and is not an indicator of poor quality. With continued use, the fuzz balls will disappear over time as these tiny fibers work themselves free of the fabric and break away. The best way to minimize pilling is to wash after the first couple wears. Using a minimal amount of detergent will also help lessen pilling.

4 Season Sleep Bag recommended care instructions & suggestions to minimize pilling:

  • Machine wash on low (100°F max), use wool or mild detergent. Close zipper.
  • Can be tumble dried on No Heat or Air Dry setting. Hang to dry whenever possible.
  • To refresh and reduce washing, turn garment inside-out and air often

Early pilling is common and should resolve with time. We design our products with durability in mind and without the use of harmful chemicals. If you are experiencing pilling, please consider the above recommendations. We are confident that the pilling will improve with these suggestions.  If you still have questions, feel free to send us a message at contact@woolino.com
