Will the 4-Season be too warm and what is Ecolino?

Woolino 4 Season Baby Sleep Bags are designed as wearable blankets to be worn over sleepwear. They are suitable for room temperatures of 63-75°F (17-24°C) with our suggested dressing guidelines. These guidelines are general since all children are different, and their tolerance to temperature may vary.

Merino wool, used in these sleep bags, is excellent at regulating temperature. It is important to ensure that your child wears clothing appropriate for the nursery temperature underneath the sleep bag. Each 4-season sleep bag includes a nursery thermometer and dressing guide to help parents choose the right layers of clothing to keep their child comfortable throughout the night. These are only recommendations as each child is unique, and the layers required for a comfortable night's sleep will vary from baby to baby. Natural, breathable fabrics like organic cotton, linen, bamboo, or merino wool are recommended. Polyester or micro-fleece sleepwear is not recommended as they are poorly breathable, may cause overheating, and block the merino wool liner’s ability to create a comfortable micro-climate around your child.

To gauge your child's temperature and comfort while sleeping, touch the back of their neck or their stomach. Hands and feet are not strong indicators of core body temperature. Monitor their sleep with the sleep bag at nap time. Check for signs of overheating such as sweating, a warm tummy, or flushed cheeks. If your child seems too warm, adjust their undergarments accordingly.

For warmer climates or nights, Woolino also offers Organic Cotton Sleep Bags. These options include:

  • Ecolino Adjustable Sleep Bag: Made with two layers of organic cotton, ideal for nurseries with room temperatures of 69-76°F (20-24°C).
  • Ecolino Basic Sleep Bag: Made with one layer of organic cotton, recommended for room temperatures of 72-77°F (22-25°C).
